September at Atlas: Focused on Advancing DE&I
The month of September was a flurry of activity at Atlas, showcasing that our commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is not just an initiative—it’s embedded in our DNA as a 100% woman-owned company. Our leadership and team reflect the diverse perspectives we bring to our clients, driving innovative, inclusive solutions across the life sciences industry. Attending DEI-focused events like the WBEC GALA-xy Lunch, the HBA (Healthcare Businesswomen's Association ) Annual Conference, and the Merck Economic Impact Summit strengthens our resolve to push for meaningful change.
At the WBEC Metro NY 25th Anniversary Grand GALA-xy Luncheon, we engaged in conversations about not only the presence of women in business but also their active involvement in decision-making processes. The key takeaway was that inclusion must be a practice—one that continuously evolves. This aligns with Atlas' approach to creating environments where every voice is heard and valued, both within our internal culture and in how we serve our clients.
The HBA Annual Conference in Toronto further reinforced the idea that diverse teams drive innovation. Panels highlighted that transformational leadership in healthcare isn’t just about breaking down barriers but also about adopting more inclusive leadership practices. At Atlas, we are committed to these principles—championing women’s advancement and creating opportunities for them to lead, particularly through programs like mentorship and sponsorship. This goes beyond empowerment; it’s about actively advocating for women and ensuring they have seats at the table where critical decisions are made. A key theme echoed at the conference: Progress is a journey, and change is inherent. We need to change the culture, the conversation, and expectations.
At the Merck Economic Impact Summit, the emphasis on Collective Effervescence was a powerful reminder of the strength and energy that comes from a shared vision for community-driven inclusion. For Atlas, this is a call to action. We harness the energy of diverse communities to inspire collaboration and drive economic inclusion initiatives, particularly for underrepresented groups. This experience also solidified our belief that partnership creates real opportunities and solutions, enabling these communities to thrive within the business ecosystem.
As we reflect on these experiences, we at Atlas recognize that DEI isn’t just a checklist—it’s a journey that requires constant reflection and action. We are:
Advocating for co-conspirators in advancing positive change, both within Atlas and beyond.
Strengthening health literacy by ensuring our communications explain not only the "what" but also the "why," thereby improving understanding across diverse audiences.
Creating new spaces for women leaders, ensuring their presence is impactful and transformative, as we saw at these events.
Leveraging the power of community to create lasting economic opportunities.
By integrating these insights, Atlas is committed to fostering environments where diversity is celebrated, and inclusion is actionable. These events have reinforced that while progress is ongoing, the time to act is now. Our work is driven by a passion for making a tangible difference, empowering diverse voices, and shaping an inclusive future.
